DIANITE
- Dianite was found in 1997 in exactly the same place as another
famous Russian mineral, charoite – in the Murun Mountains in
Yakutia, to the north from Baikal lake . This stone became
popular almost at once mostly because of its unique blue color,
which could be of all shades of blue – from light to dark. Dianite
often has patterns that resemble clouds, spheres from dianite
look like mysterious distant planets.
- The stone was named dianite after Princess Diana. Its
structure is similar to one of nephrite (dianite is in fact an
amphibole), that is why it is often called “blue nephrite” or
“Siberian blue jade”, though, as scientists say, this is not a
proper name for this mineral.
- Unfortunately, this beautiful material comes from the mine only
in very small amounts. Rough of good color is very rare and
quite expensive.
- Dianite is thought to be good for healing, meditation and peace.
